I’ve been seeing more and more IPM training geared toward CRNAs, nurse practitioners and PAs lately. I hate to see all the work that ASIPP, LSIPP, Mike Burdine, and all the others in Louisiana have been doing to keep CRNAs from practicing IPM techniques (i.e. the practice of medicine) on unwitting and defenseless patients go to waste with this influx of disreputable training. Has anyone else noticed this trend?

Cervical Epidural Steroid injections
I recently have had patients denied cervical epidural steroids injections from 2 different managed care entities (Welborn and Indiana Medicaid) based on Milliman Criteria – which states that evidence based medicine indicates the cervical epidural steroid injections are never medically necessary. Has anyone else run accross this problem. Where are these criteria coming from, and how can we resolve this issue
